Homes Along The Dallas Wine Trail

When people who are not from Texas think of a luxury home in Dallas, they may think of the Southfork Ranch which was the home of the fictional Ewing family on the hit television series, Dallas. But the city is much more than a home to oil barons like the infamous J.R. Ewing and sport heroes like the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas provides many opportunities for residents and visitors to experience local culture. The Dallas Wine Trail gives visitors a chance to experience the viticulture and see some of the most prestigious homes in the area.

The Heart of Dallas

The Dallas Wine Trail features four wineries. Calais Winery is located in the heart of downtown Dallas. Luxury living in the city often means a condominium. Many are attracted to downtown Dallas because of its thriving business community and its vibrant nightlife. Condos can range from penthouse suites that cost several million to smaller homes that hover around the million dollar mark. While locate in the city, many of these condos have outdoor areas that included walking trails.

The Lakewood Area

Fugua Winery is located near the prestigious Lakewood area, which features older homes that reflect the charm of Dallas from an earlier time. The area is just minutes from downtown Dallas. The homes were built in the early 1900s. The homes reflect a variety of styles from ranch homes on large estates to Mediterranean style homes. One of the more unusual homes in the area is an 11 bedroom mansion that was a former church. While many people would love a more traditional home, the mansion has been an attraction for those interested in having a Dallas luxury home as well as those who are just curious to see it.

Ten Times Cellar is also located near the Lakewood areas. Luxury homes near the winery, which is located on Prospect Road, often reflect an English heritage. Tudor style homes are very popular in the area. Residents nearby can visit the winery sample the wide variety and have an appetizer or dessert. Ten Times Cellar also has a location in Fort Worth.

Inwood Estates

The Inwood Estates Winery is perhaps the best known winery in the Dallas area and one of the best known in the United States. Open since 1981when only a few wineries existed in Texas at the time, the winery is known for its tempranillo cabernet wine. Despite its name, the winery is not tied to one particular neighborhood. However Inwood Parks Estates, located in the city's Bluffview district, features homes with lush land that could be perfect for growing grapes for wine. Mansion like homes with large columns and spacious Tudor style homes line the streets. The nearby Northwest Hills neighborhood features classic homes with large lots for gardening or for children to play. 

The leadership of the Dallas Wine Trail hosts many special events and tastings each year that attracts area owners of Dallas luxury homes. And as the area continues to grow, new luxury homes and estates are developing.

Grapevine Lake is a large Lake in the Dallas Forth Worth areas. There are many prime living opportunities within the larger Grapevine Lake communities.
