Not all Shopping is equal - Fresh Food Delivery services

Not all shopping is equal.  While shopping for life's little luxuries is the favourite past-time of many people, food shopping is not high on the list for any busy modern family.  Despite the revolution in equality between men and women it's still often the latter on which the burden of the weekly shop falls.  While equality has transformed many aspects of women's lives for the better in the last century, allowing them full access to education and employment it seems all of these opportunities are accompanied by most of their traditional roles as well.  There are women in just about every role and profession you can imagine, but even the highest achievers usually have a bag of groceries stuffed under their desk from a quick stocking up shop at lunchtime. 

Greener shopping
Fresh food delivery services have, it has to be said, transformed our lives in the last few years.  Their take up has been rapid and they have quickly had an impact on the way we shop.  A hundred years ago, it wasn't unusual for fresh food delivery services to be seen trundling around towns and villages.  Enter the supermarket and the internal combustion engine and for a good half a century thousands of people could be found battling their way around out-of-town supermarkets.  Concerns about the environment, where our food is sourced and how far it has to travel to get to us have been part of the changing attitudes to food.  The rise of the ‘veg-box' and other fresh food delivery services has been fast.  However, the recession has had an impact, with many people reluctantly withdrawing their support from these small friendly delivery services.

Strangely, it's the ‘Daddy of all Delivery Services' that may come to the rescue.  Remember the Milkman?  At one time no early morning street scene would have been incomplete without the trundling sound of an electric milk float rattling and clinking down the road.  Contrary to popular belief the milkmen still exist and they have come up with some surprising solutions to ensure they will remain a feature of the British suburbs.  Seeing the supermarkets making a determined effort to finish them off once and for all, the dairies have fought back.  By establishing a whole new range of products to deliver they have diversified.  Nor have they missed the opportunities that the internet has to offer.  Dairies now offer a vast range of fresh food delivery options - with product ranges in the 100's not the 1's.  All kinds of everyday essential from tea and coffee to cleaning products can be ordered - fresh fruit & veg, pet food have also appeared on the list of products available. 

Next day delivery - what else?
The difference - and it's a big one - with the local milkman's fresh food delivery is simple.  As they work to regular rounds they don't need to charge delivery.  Even the smallest order doesn't come with an additional charge - beating just about every other fresh food delivery service hands down.  Next day delivery has always been standard for milkmen and they haven't changed anything there.  You can place your order up to nine pm in the evening - or amend it when you realise you've just run out of cereal.  The goodies will be with you - possibly before you are actually awake.
