Finding cool and unusual events in NYC?

Where can I find cool and unusual events (those that are not listed on nyc.gov website) for New York City? Lets say something like dance shows, food and wine tastings, small concerts, etc. Is there a website I can go to?

My favorite source for goings on is the magazine TimeOut New York. I found out that tomorrow (Thursday) there is going to be a lecture (with samples) at the Y about aphrodisiacs in food:
